You can tear a poem apart ~ Dylan Thomas

You can tear a poem apart to see what makes it tick…. You’re back with the mystery of having been moved by words. The best craftsmanship always leaves holes and gaps… so that something that is not in the poem can creep, crawl, flash or thunder in.

I am a poet

36244e67edf5d298b7f01176f7ca29af

They say

that all poets

at some point in time

possess and express

in overabundance

one or two or three or four

of the traits listed below:

Moodiness

Instability

Insanity

Eccentricty

and are very

Selfish

Idealistic

Intense

Impulsive

Cynical

Morose

Emotional

and

LoveWithEveryFiberOfTheirBeingNoMatterTheConsequenceComeHellOrHighWater

and

if it’s true

you have these traits

and all poets have these traits

you might be a poet

Depending upon

the interpretation,

it’s not a bad thing

and

I might be a poet, too

though

I live in the same world as you

Poetry is my favorite addiction/meditation/recreation/Re-Creation

I adore exploring every beautiful place

in a poet’s universe

I am a poet,

but only in spirit

I’m not like you

You are one of the chosen few

Whose words speak to my heart’s most hidden parts

I cannot pen my adoration to the ones I adore

as elegantly as you do

So, I carry you with me

I invite you into my most secret place

beneath an ancient oak

whose massive branches hang like arms

forming a cradle covered by a canopy of leaves

It’s my secret room I want to share with you

I gently lay you down on a bed of of grass

next to me as I sit in the sacred silence

I open your pages

I read your poems

Your magic is who you are

You paint in colors

that never existed before

Yes, you are a poet

You often lie between the pages

of Sylvia Plath

and Rossetti

or Robert Frost,

as Bukowski

flutters in the wind,

waiting impatiently

for me to finish

I read your last word

I let you slip away into the pages of places

I can only see in the dreams you write for me

I wait to once again taste your poetry

for I am a poet too, in spirit

and

I’m in love

with every poet and poem

whose kindred words

have touched my shore

I just discovered this amazing writer who has already inspired me to have the courage to find my voice and truly share me in my writings.  She is truly a rare talent and one you must follow and read.  🙂

Dear Hannah, My English teacher told us yesterday to write in our own voice and not to write descriptively, saying “can I have some water” instead of “may I partake of that liquid refreshment?” This slightly goes against everything I’ve ever learned about formal writing. I love writing descriptively and making the leaves dance between […]

Words Are Meaningless

ebdf72f098ece4a50418d298c005b2a3

Words are meaningless

(at least that’s what she said when I called her out on it)

~

There is never a reason for writing words

No inspirations in human or vegetable form

No muses that inspire passion beyond the norm

~

Words are just art,

amorphous spigots of thought

spit from vacuums of what…

Art art art!!! O N L Y ART!

~

Poems are Big Bangs of abc’s
Throw them up
See what sticks

If you’re lucky you get something human

Something beautiful, deep, inspirational

Something invoking emotion pulled from inside

the writer who threw them up,

regurgitations of some fucking beautiful, deep fucking stuff…

(conspicuous use of the word ‘fucking‘ always makes the woman ‘writer’ seem much less impotent and so much more legitimate)

~

Words are (in my insane, naive head)

NOT Robotic
Un felt
Pimped out
For a buck, but,

how dare you imply it’s not from the heat?

I mean, heart! Heart!!

All from the HEART!!

~

But it’s not!!!

(you say you say you say, again)

See, it’s only when we (they) say

it’s from the heart, only then,

the rest of the time not,

got it?

~

Words (you say again)

That’s how real writers write, right?

It doesn’t have to make sense, just read it

and believe all the bullshit we (they) spit

~

Our words
Are IT

in a context making no sense,

that’s how it is

makes cheating legit (very convenient, isn’t it?)

Words…

(That fit ONLY what we’re comfortable with)

it’s not selling out, it’s selling it

and if we get a little action on the side, so be it

it’s only hearsay and poetry, bitch

Thomas Jefferson ~ Quotes

“The whole art of government consists in the art of being honest.”

“There is nothing more unequal than the equal treatment of unequal people.”
Thomas Jefferson

“I predict future happiness for Americans, if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.”
Thomas Jefferson

July4th3

“The man who reads nothing at all is better educated than the man who reads nothing but newspapers.”
Thomas Jefferson

“The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. … What country before ever existed a century and half without a rebellion? And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure.”
~Thomas Jefferson, Letters of Thomas Jefferson
